DUTCH
Who we are
We are Digital United Training Concepts for Healthcare (DUTCH) . In this national program, hospitals, educational institutions and businesses work together on a new way of training and developing healthcare professionals in hospitals. Developers of medical and educational technology contribute by developing new simulated learning tools, together with healthcare professionals and trainers.
The purpose of
DUTCH
What we do
DUTCH provides more training capacity by increasing efficiency in training and stimulates lifelong learning and development. In this way we reduce the staff shortage in healthcare, retain expert healthcare professionals and shorten waiting lists.
DUTCH ensures that healthcare professionals in training spend 50% of their training time learning in a simulated workplace, using:
-
physical simulation , such as clinical reasoning or team training using simulators with associated technology;
-
virtual simulation, such as virtual and augmented reality;
-
digital learning resources, such as e-learning and games
This means they can continue their training safely anytime and anywhere, using proven learning activities.

“Take for example that you have to learn to operate an appendix. Then you have to wait as an operating team until a patient comes by for that treatment. With simulators you can simply schedule that.”
Jaap Bonjer
Head of Department of Surgery Amsterdam UMC
Benefits of
DUTCH
Modern and powerful training according to the latest insights.
Are you well prepared for the healthcare of the future?
Using these proven simulated learning activities:
Can we train more healthcare professionals?
Experienced professionals keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
Experienced healthcare professionals experience less pressure on the work floor.
We expect to significantly reduce waiting lists.
Elaboration in phases and via regions
DUTCH develops these simulated learning tools in phases, so that we can learn from experiences and adjust where necessary. We are first focusing on the training courses for operating room assistants, anesthesia assistants and radiodiagnostic laboratory technicians. In order to scale up to other healthcare training courses if proven successful.
For each training region, DUTCH inventories which simulated learning resources are already available and suitable. We make these learning resources available nationwide for the training courses mentioned. In addition, we create new simulated learning resources for national use.
