Practical examples

Which hospitals already use simulated learning resources and how have they made this part of workplace learning? What exactly does such a simulation environment look like? Are there examples of physical training in combination with virtual reality? On this page you will find practical examples in the field of simulated learning resources. Do you have a practical example to share or is there a good example missing on this page? Please contact us.

TrueSim ABCDE training module

TrueSim ABCDE training module: Interactive and realistic simulation training for healthcare professionals. Accelerates the link between theory and practice. Practices ABCDE methodology for recognition and treatment of critically ill patients, and SBAR for structured communication. Mixed Reality enables independent, joint or supervised training at the desired time and location.

Justgameit & Erasmus MC Academy

This video shows different ways in which learning can take shape in a simulation environment .

Interprofessional training

Surgeons in training and surgical assistants in training gathered at the Amsterdam Skills Centre (ASC) to follow the multidisciplinary CASH Colon course. By bringing different disciplines together at the operating table in the training, they can learn from each other at an early stage.

ASC Practice Day

Interprofessional training at Amsterdam UMC, training for physician assistants and operating room assistants. This video shows you what that looks like.

Laparascopic training

Surgeons in training and medical staff can practice operating room scenarios in a safe and simulated environment. This video combines laparoscopic training with operating room scenarios through medical virtual reality.

Incision

With Incision Assist, Incision offers a glimpse into the future of support in the operating room. Using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), OR teams will soon be able to receive real-time guidance and visual support. The goal? To better prepare healthcare professionals, strengthen their skills and increase their confidence, both in simulations and in practice. Discover how Incision can accelerate medical education and care transformation with these innovative solutions.

Training outside the operating room has a future

June 13, 2 023

De Rotterdamse Zorg wrote an article about the project 'Innovative training OR' in Rotterdam. In order to address the shortages of permanent anesthesia staff, surgical assistants and recovery nurses in the operating rooms, the hospitals in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region opted for a joint approach. In the Innovative training OR project, the hospitals jointly investigated innovative learning opportunities to train more in the limited space of the operating rooms. Lifelike practice on virtual patient

March 17, 2022

In the Elkerliek in Helmond, healthcare professionals practice with a lifelike virtual patient. Pieter Tegelaers is an ICU nurse and one of the software developers of the simulation. “During the training, lifelike situations are simulated. Healthcare professionals can immediately start working with the patient. They observe the vital parameters and, for example, administer oxygen in the event of a low oxygen level. They also see the effect on the patient. It is really great to see that professionals are challenged in a new way to be the first to detect and treat the most life-threatening symptoms.” View this practical example on the Elkerliek website .
